The Virginia experience

THE COOKOUT

We ventured to Lynchburg, VA in the Baptist Hoopty as Melissa calls it to Jordan's first football game of the season over Labor Day weekend. The "Hoopty" was a little old but did the job. We enjoyed being together and being able to move around inside as we were traveling. However, I did feel like an airline stewardess by serving drinks and food to those within. However, we made it safely to and back from Virgina over Labor Day weekend.

This is the man that put it all together and also the griller.Debbie Wheeler, friend from wayyyy back. She and David now live in Lynchburg where he is a professor at Liberty University. Deb and David have 2 children, Dana and Kara.Russ and Josh, a friend of Jordan from NGU.

THE SPECTATORS

David Wheeler and Duane. David is Debbie's husband and Duane's boss when he lived in Columbus.
Here we are getting ready to watch the BIG game. As you can see, we have a traitor in our midst. Yes, that's Nicole. Although she did go to Liberty many moons ago, 14 years in fact, she was compelled to wear the stickers they were giving out. If you can't read it, it says "Conquer the Crusaders". How could she? She's lucky we all allowed her to sit with us! We do love you anyway Nicole. Thanks for coming.

THE BIG GAME

AFTER THE GAME

OUR LAST DAY

On our last day, we spent time with our family going to church and then out to eat. After that, we went to the church where Duane and I were married 30 years ago in December and took a couple of pictures.

Our our way home, I took a couple of pictures from our camper of the mountain I used to climb (BlueRidge Mountains) with our church and to where I rode my horse and also a couple from Lebanon VA. This is the James River.

I saw this flag up on a cliff last year right after the massacre at Virginia Tech. Under the American Flag is a Virginia Tech flag. Unfortunately, the wind wasn't blowing hard enough to see it. On the side of the rock, it has a banner that says, "we remember." It was very moving the first time I saw it and wanted to take a picture of it.
